its been raining since forever. Quite puzzling actually, because isn't March supposed to be the start of the hot and humid season? Maybe the Earth is reacting to global warming, on this topic of the Earth. A few weeks back I worked in the kitchen and I came to a conclusion and that would benear impossibleto save theEarthand even if it were possible it would not only require a stupendous amount of effort to get our dear Singaporeans toReduce, Reuse and Recycle. Which I think the people who're trying so hard to convince our youths that saving the environment is cool and it starts with ME! is kinda cheesy? Let's face it. I'm sure when you first saw that you were probably mumbling to yourself how silly that sounds. Anyway, ever thought how many gallons of water let alone rubbish was wasted in a mere 10 hours, and thats just a day.
Let's do the math together to see my point. (:
There's an estimate of 35 major hotels (3 stars and above), this is just a conservative amount. Assume there's a daily disposal of let's just say 50kg of rubbish. (this is just from the all the rooms in the hotel) Assume a daily consumption of 1000 gallons of water (bathing, washing hands, clothes, floors, plates and the list goes on)
So...
Water: 1000 gallons x 35 hotels = 35000 gallons daily x 365 days = 12 775 000 gallons a year
Rubbish: 50kg x 35 hotels = 1750kg x 365 days = 638 750 kgs (638.75 tonnes) a year
Ladies and gentlemen thats a hell lot of waste a year and all figures are super conservative. This is just hotels. We haven't even include the individual households. So tell me how is it possible to negate a force we created for ourselves? As much as we choose to ignore it or try so hard to revert it, our Earth is dying my friends. How many years do we have left?
food for thought...
what concerns you most right now?
p.s you are the tune stuck in my head (:
